Non-Occlusive Mesenteric Ischemia

چکیده
Introduction Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) is an acute mesenteric circulatory disorder that, in contrast to mesenteric arterial occlusion induced by blockage of blood flow by emboli and thrombi, is not caused by organic occlusion of blood vessels. 1 Good outcomes in NOMI are observed with early recognition and treatment. 1-2 The early symptoms and characteristics of NOMI, however, are unclear. In many cases, the disease has advanced to an irreversible stage before a definite diagnosis is made.

Fatal non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia after esophagectomy.
Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) is a disorder with an extremely high mortality. Salvage of affected patients requires early recognition and aggressive intervention to prevent intestinal gangrene. We present a case of NOMI developing after esophagectomy and discuss the pathophysiology diagnosis and therapy.
متن کاملA Case Report of Non-Occlusive Mesenteric Ischemia in a Patient with Multiple Risk Factors
Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) refers to all types of mesenteric ischemia without any organic blockage of blood vessels. It is usually seen in elderly age group with risk factors of previous myocardial infarction, congestive cardiac failure, aortic insufficiency, renal or liver impairment and post-cardiac surgery. Amongst all the cases of acute mesenteric ischemia, NOMI constitutes 20...
متن کاملSmall bowel feces sign in association with occlusive mesenteric ischemia
Small bowel feces sign (SBFS) is a computed tomography (CT) finding that appears as fecal like material in dilated small bowel loops. This sign is usually seen in association with gradually progressive small bowel obstruction. We present a case of occlusive mesenteric ischemia in which the SBFS appeared on CT scan early on in the course of the disease. We put forward a suggested alternative mec...
متن کاملThe Unusual Suspect: A Case of Non-occlusive Mesenteric Ischemia in a Patient With Cirrhosis
Acute mesenteric ischemia has a variety of etiologies. Non-occulusive mesenteric ischemia accounts for 20-30% of patients with acute mesenteric ischemia. We describe a case of non-occulusive jejunal ischemia leading to infarction that occurred in a patient with cirrhosis and no previous history of cardiovascular disease.
متن کاملAcute mesenteric ischaemia.
The experience of acute mesenteric ischaemia at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, has been reviewed over 17 years. The mortality remains appallingly high. This applies particularly to those patients who had thrombosis of the superior mesenteric artery, amongst whom the mortality in this series was 97%. The mortality was slightly less in the group suffering from embolic occlusion of the superior...
